Olsen Olsen *

a song with lyrics written in "Hopelandic" ** rather  than Icelandic by Kjartan Sveinsson, Jon Thor Birgisson, Georg Holm and Agust Aevar Gunnarsson

Sigur Rós ***

from the album "Ágćtis Byrjun" (Icelandic pronunciation: ['aːucaitɪs 'pɪrjʏn] ow-gy-tiss bi-ar-yun), "A good beginning", 1999, the title from:

... "viđ munum gera betur nćst, ţetta er ágćtis byrjun"...

... "we'll do better next time, this is a good beginning"...

Dua tiga kucing berlari,
mana nak sama si kucing belang,
dua tiga boleh kucari,
mana nak sama si adik seorang.

sorong papan tarik papan,
buah keranji atas perahu,
suruh makan dia makan,
suruh mengaji dia tak mahu.

buah cempedak di luar pagar,
ambil galah tolong jolokkan,
saya budak baru belajar,
kalau salah tolong tunjukkans

* "Olsen Olsen"

is the name of a Danish cardgame children play on Iceland

** "Hopelandic"

is a made-up language in which the sound of the word has / is a meaning and a story unique to each individual
For one moment let our mind just abandone whichever formalized language we use and altogether adopt
Hopelandic instead,
thinking only in sighs of emotions and speaking "in tounges" of caring, sharing, love...

*** "Sigur Rós"

(Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈsi:ːyʏr 'ro:us] sig-ər rohss) is an ambient / post-rock band from Reykjavík, named after frontman Jónsi Birgisson's sister Sigurrós

Active since 1994 and known for ethereal sound, Jónsi's falsetto vocals and the use of bowed guitar, the band incorporates in its music classical and minimalist aesthetic elements
